I want to repair the fabric seat from an Eames Aluminum Side Chair.
Can the material be removed from the frame?

After a little research:

The chairs were made using industrial machines. Making it very difficult to accomplish this yoursels The chairs seem to do best when recovered in the newer mesh HM fabric done by a profesional.

They are actually held in with pins, that get removed from the upper side (under the fabric).

They were originally put together without the stretchers between the side rails.

-Remove the base and stretcher behind the back support,
-Remove the cap screws on the side rails, fold the fabric up, and force the pins out. They are about 6 inches apart

Special tools needed:drift punches

Hope this gets you started.
